Did You Know That The Average Carpet Is Dirtier Than Toilet Seats?

/ Jun 2020
According to a carpet study conducted by HomeAdvisor in 2021, the average carpet has 5.7 times more germs than a toilet seat! It’s not something we like to admit but most carpets are dirtier than we think. Here are just a few scary facts:
  1. Your carpet is the biggest air filter in your home. The inside of your house acts like a trap for dust, dirt, pet dander, and more. In fact, indoor air usually contains twice as much dust as the air outside.
  2. Each ounce of carpet dust can support up to 2,000 dust mites, thriving on dead skin cells and nesting in your carpet. The residue they leave behind mixes with dust and becomes airborne, and can become a cause of allergies.
  3. Every year, you’ll end up accumulating several pounds of soil in and under your carpet.
  4. The American Lung Association recommends vacuuming three times a week and deep clean carpets twice a year to prevent potential health complications.
While vacuuming helps a good deep clean with a Rug Doctor once a year is a MUST. With a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner, your carpet will look and smell better… at least until the next deep clean 😉 If we peaked your interest and you want to read about how dirty carpets can be (the ones that are not regularly deep cleaned, of course) click here to read more from the 2021 HomeAdvisor Study.
